Crowns, Inlays, and Onlays

For small areas of decay, we will use tooth colored fillings to repair your tooth. For larger problems, Dr. Burdick will recommend replacing decayed, broken, or damaged areas with inlays, onlays, or crowns.

Inlays and onlays are tooth-colored restorations made to fit perfectly into an area left by decay. We work with talented ceramists who create precise inlays and onlays that fit comfortably and seal completely. These restorations work well for decay that is too large for a composite resin filling, yet not significant enough to warrant a full crown. Dr. Burdick also replaces large silver/amalgam fillings with inlays and onlays for increased durability and esthetics.

Also called caps, crowns fit over the original tooth, strengthening the remaining structure and protecting it from further damage These repairs save teeth that might otherwise require extraction.

Dr. Burdick uses precious metal, porcelain fused-to-metal, or all-porcelain crowns. Typically, he takes a mold of the tooth and then places a temporary while the lab crafts a permanent one. Once we have the permanent crown, you return for the final fitting and adjustment. In just a few short appointments, the team at Creekside Family Dentistry will update your smile with stable, natural looking results.
