TMJ Therapy

Temporomandibular joint dysfunction, also known as TMD or TMJ dysfunction, affects approximately 75 million people. The temporomandibular joints (TMJ) are hinges that hold the jaw in place and allow it to move. Nerves and muscles associated with the TMJ can become agitated due to improper alignment. When jaws are positioned improperly, patients may experience symptoms like migraines; pain in the neck, face, or shoulders; clicking or malfunction of the jaw, and/or radiant pain in extremities. Complex, yet non-surgical TMJ therapy can relieve the nagging symptoms by correcting jaw position.

At Creekside Family Dentistry, we want your smile to look good and feel great. Dr. Burdick has studied TMJ therapy for bite equilibration. An oral appliance, like a nightguard or an NTI-tss (tension suppression system), often corrects the alignment of the jaw and eases associated pain. During your appointment, Dr. Burdick will discuss TMJ therapy options and establish a plan to deliver much needed relief.
